I have never been so depressed and shocked as I have been when I discover the many ways that some major food processors are reported to be cheating the American consumer by the way they process and label and infuse their products with all kinds of things to make them taste better, last longer, look better on the shelf for a longer time ….it is horrific if you know what is happening and what you are really looking for. One consumer screwing trick is super chilling chicken instead of air chilling. One of the standard processes does nothing but freeze the meat and add a lot of ice water to the weight of the package thus causing consumers to pay a premium price for excess water and to recoil i n terror as they watch their chicken shrink under cooking conditions to a small, grayish blob that has done more steaming in the process than browning.
But that is only the beginnings of the nightmare.
Hundreds of products on grocery shelves are either chemically-constructed lies or are so processed that they really do not qualify as what they are supposed to be anymore.
But if you shop for groceries, you are going to pay whatever the market will bear for whatever you stick into your shopping cart much of the time that you spend running up and down those aisles.
It is pathetic and criminal what these ‘producers’ can get away with these days. chuq

Currently, the UK is refusing to import chicken and beef from America. That’s because the chicken is chlorinated, and the beef cattle are injected with hormones to speed growth.
Best wishes, Pete.
